“ THIS POSTING IS FOR THE ROLLINSFORD, NH LOCATION. The Shanty opened another location in the former Alexander's Italian Restaurant in Rollinsford on NH 4, just outside of Dover. On my way to Maine, I decided to stop in at The Shanty in Rollinsford for lunch. The place was packed on a Saturday with a 15 minute wait to be seated and first come first served seating at the bar. The place has seating around the bar, surrounded by booths, high top tables and more seating on the back corner. There are 11 TVs in the bar area and a few more TVs in the back corner, a great place to watch the game. The bar looked packed, elbow to elbow, so I put my name on the wait list just in case. I took a walk around the bar and a couple was just leaving, so I sat up at the bar with some room around me. A bartender came over and asked me what to drink (got an ice water) and brought a menu saying everything was available except lasagna. The food menu is the same in Portsmouth offering a good variety of appetizers, winga, salads, soups, chili, sandwich & burger plates, pasta dishes, seafood, steak tips, chicken tenders, pizzas, strombolis, and a kids menu. The bar offers 5 beers on tap (can have up to 10), bottled & can beers and mixed drinks. I've gotten DoorDash at the other location in Portsmouth and their food including their Lasagna, Haddock Sandwich with Onion Rings and Tater Tot Poutine with Shaved Steak was pretty good. It took me a moment to decide if I wanted chicken parm, a burger or seafood. I decided on the Baked Stuffed Haddock ($20 plus tax) with mashed potatoes and a side salad. The food arrived together in 20 minutes after ordering. The portions were generous including the good sized side salad, which had leafy greens, vipe ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, green peppers, black olives, pepperoncinis, croutons, and dressing on the side. The baked haddock was very flaky and soft, topped with a ritz cracker and seafood stuffing. I was given plenty of tartar sauce too. The mashed potatoes were soft and dense. I took my time enjoying my big lunch as I watched college football on the TVs. I had my fill and passed on the offer for more food. The check came out to $21.70 with tax and before tip. Overall, I had a good lunch sitting up at the bar. The service here was good and two bartenders took care of things for me. I would definitely return for dinner during the week so I can enjoy their strombolis and pasta dishes after work. ”
